“Undercovers” by J.J. Abrams is NBC’s First Pilot Pick-Up

NBC has made its first 2010-2011 season pilot pick-up. Unsurprisingly, the show, Undercovers, is a creation of hit-maker J.J. Abrams (Lost, Alias, Star Trek, Mission Impossible III). The series centers on two caterers, Steven (Boris Kodjoe) and Samantha Bloom (Gugu Mbatha-Raw), who are seemingly a content, non-descript married couple. In reality, they are formerly two of the CIA’s most-accomplished spies. When a former colleague and friend, Leo Nash (Carter MacIntyre), goes missing , the Blooms are reenlisted by the CIA to find and rescue him. As they search the world for their friend, the Blooms realize that the spy game offers them the excitement and romance their marriage is lacking. Also starring are Ben Schwartz, Jessica Parker Kennedy, and Gerald McRaney. There is no word yet whether the series will debut in the fall or the spring season, nor what time slot it will play. Expect those questions to be answered at NBC’s upfront later this month.

So, what do you think about the premise Undercovers? Does the fact that J.J. Abrams is behind the series push it to the top of your “check-it-out” list for next season?
