If you read our review of Grey's Anatomy's sixth season premiere, scheduled to air September 24th, you already have some idea of what to expect: more of what makes Grey's Anatomy one of the best shows on television. If you are wondering what major changes may be in store, well... we can't really tell you that. We are happy to have video confirmation of one of Grey's most favorite characters back on their feet before that highly anticipated premiere episode comes to an end, though. As far as what is expected to change this season, the answer is: plenty. For starters, the namesake of the series, Ellen Pompeo's Dr. Meredith Grey, is rumored to be taking a hiatus to accommodate the actresses real life pregnancy. It was also recently announced that Izzie, Katherine Heigl, will also be taking a leave from the show giving Heigl some space to work on a new movie. It goes without saying that what is surprising about that is the fact that Heigl is even on Grey's Anatomy anymore to take a break from it. Her criticism of the production has become legendary, and loud, and very very public. Along with fellow malcontent T.R. Knight, Heigl's future on the show was dangled beyond the close of the season 5 finale, which saw both characters on the brink of death.
As you are about to see Izzie not only survived, but it appears her recovery will be moving along nicely.
Oh please Katherine Heigl has not been critical of Grey's Anatomy at all. The press reaction has been legendary to everything she says however. She has hardly been voicing her displeasure at regular intervals – in fact she has stated many times how much she enjoys being on the show. Since she withdrew her name for consideration for the Emmy's (which she was correct to do – her storyline was woeful) suddenly she is critical of the show all the time? Oh please. Then recently during her interview with Letterman she is chatting and joking about long hours on the set and suddenly she is bashing the show? They are about the only two comments you can find that could even remotely construed as negative. Perhaps you could provide a list of quotes where she has been super critical of production rather than a list of tabloid headlines without any substance.
Ah, well… first of all, Actresses/Actors don't withdraw themselves from consideration, they simply don't submit. So the entire thing was publicity for her. As for her 'jokes' on Letterman, she was pretty serious about it. She even said she wanted to Embarrass them. Even Dave called her out on it. But, regardless, all I say is that her criticisms are pretty well known. You seem to be viewing this in a bubble, because I don't believe either incident was 'remotely construed' as negative – they were both taken at face value. Of course this is moot because you are seeing a lot more negativity there than there really is. I, for one, am glad that Izzy is back – and could care less if Heigl is trying so hard to put an 'I' in 't-e-a-m.'
