I get excited anytime I hear that a new serialized drama has been picked up by a network. That excitement level grows a little more if the series is sci-fi centered, as well. Regardless, I've been a little concerned about the upcoming NBC drama, Day One, which is set to premiere at midseason. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely LOVE the idea of the doomsday, end of the world type serial, but the reports I'd heard up to this point made it sound a little too similar to Jericho, and we all know how successful that show was.
But, thanks to a mysteriously leaked video and another interview I watched with the show's creator (Lost and Heroes writer Jesse Alexander) those fears are diminishing fast. NBC claims that they aren't sure how the video got leaked, and I'll warn you, it isn't the greatest quality, but its out there, and it looks awesome. As stated by The Hollywood Reporter, who broke the story, Day One looks more like a cross between Lost and V than any kind of Jericho wannabe. In fact, with a trailer like this I'm not sure why NBC would hold on to this, instead of just getting it out, but since they're one of the few shows like this that won't be screening at Comic Con, I guess it makes sense...they're stingy.
The first video is the interview with the show creator. The second video is the trailer. Enjoy and starting getting psyched up!

New comment system took me off guard here!
But on to my question…what the heck is that song that's playing in the background at the start of the trailer? I know that song is from another show or movie trailer or something, but I just can't put my finger on it.

Begins to look promising. The actors all look way to glamorous for their parts, but I guess that can't be helped.
Maybe the trailer was leaked by somebody who was afraid the show would be quietly destroyed? SF is never popular with some network suits. Too expensive to produce, niche audience. If they can't scuttle it before the premier, they'll deliberately mess with the schedule so that it can't maintain a following. (Thatnbsp; contributed to the demise of Firefly, though really that show had other issues.) So, you do a little guerilla/viral marketing to build up a following to make the show harder to sabotage.
