This Video Pretty Much Sums up Air Travel in Real Life

This video sums up air travel in real life and I honestly could not stop laughing. It’s not as funny when it’s really happening to you but huh boy, when you get to watch someone else going through it there’s a good laugh to be had. Ever notice how there are so many annoying steps to getting on an airplane? First there’s the waiting to get on, which is usually a necessity since the crew needs to check the plane to make sure nothing got left behind, all the trash is picked up, the plane is fueled up, so on and so forth. There’s a good reason for people having to wait to get on since everything has to be in order before they can start taking on passengers again. Plus it might be nice for the crew to get just a couple of minutes to themselves before taking on a whole new flight.

Then there’s the idea of how your baggage is being treated. People might want to believe that the handlers are taking great care of their luggage but it all depends on what kind of day the handlers are having, if they’re in a hurry, and yada yada yada. They’re human beings too and might not be that great at their job or might be just having a REALLY bad day. Granted, that’s no reason to mishandle someone’s luggage or even forget something that should have made it onto the plane. But again, there is a reason for it no matter that it’d still be the handler’s fault if they damage anything.

And then we go to the cramped accommodations. You almost have to be a tiny, skinny person to sit comfortably in some seats, as the person in front of you could recline just a little and you’d be squished. Plus there’s not a lot of room between seats either. If you want more room on your flight you’d better be willing to shell out the big bucks so that you can go first class or perhaps get the new and improved seating cubicles that are being advertised lately.

Oh, and the refreshment service? Hope you brought your own little garbage bag, because with having to serve so many people the attendants aren’t going to be getting back to you all that soon. That small pack of peanuts of pretzels or whatever they give you wouldn’t satisfy the craving of a small child let alone an adult, and some airlines are super stingy since they give you one drink and that’s it, at least for free. If you want something else you’ll probably be shelling out anywhere from five to ten dollars for something that might cost you half that in a regular bar.

Thankfully the captain won’t usually bother you that much with his observations over the speaker system, though when he does you almost feel obliged to listen for the first couple of seconds just to make sure everything’s okay. Ah yes, fly the friendly skies, just don’t expect to be comfortable every moment.
