At the end of October USA Network will be launching itself at the broadcast networks head-on, and competing with them on their own stomping ground that is the fall premiere season. White Collar premieres at the end of October (Oct 23 to be exact) and features a great cast and great characters. You can read our full review here.
After such a successful summer for the USA Network, and now that fourth placed NBC has decided to remove five hours of their scripted television for Jay Leno, the time seems perfect for the basic cable network to take a stab at fall television. White Collar seems like the perfect kind of vehicle to test the waters with as well. While it’s doubtful that the Friday night timeslot will pull too many viewers away from CBS, which features the Ghost Whisperer, Medium, and Numbers, three shows that have very loyal followings, it’s only other competition at that timeslot is Jay Leno and 20/20 and the afore mentioned Numbers.
Below are some promotional photos from the premiere episode as well as the basic synopsis of the show from USA. Take note that Battlestar Galactica alum Mark Sheppard guest stars in the pilot episode and is the same kind of fantastic as he always is.
‘WHITE COLLAR is a fresh and fun take on the classic buddy formula, pairing a career criminal with a career federal agent,’said Wachtel. ‘The series will offer viewers a distinct voice and style, inspired storytelling and memorable characters.’
WHITE COLLAR is about the most unlikely of partnerships between a con artist and an FBI agent. The story unfolds after charming criminal mastermind Neal Caffrey (Bomer) is caught by his nemesis, G-Man extraordinaire Peter Burke (DeKay). After escaping from a maximum-security prison to find his long-lost love, Neal is nabbed by Peter once again. Rather than returning to jail for this daring getaway, Neal suggests an alternate plan – providing his expertise to assist the Feds in putting away infamous and elusive criminals in return for his freedom. Thiessen plays Peter’s wife, Elizabeth, an intelligent, high-status event planner with a certain intuition of her own. Garson plays Mozzie, a friend of Caffrey’s with a strong distrust of the Feds and an unyielding belief in conspiracy theories. Diahann Carroll (‘Grey’s Anatomy,”Dynasty’) guest stars in the pilot and will star as a dynamic recurring character.
