History’s Vikings Renewed for Season There

History has another hit on their hands, it seems. Their most notable attempt as a prolonged dramatic series has paid off, as Vikings is averaging as respectable 3.5M viewers for them in season two, which huge (50%) lifts from DVR viewing.

The show has just been picked up for season three, which probably won’t surprise most who have been following its quiet success.

Vikings has taken viewers by storm and has established itself as one of the most compelling, visually stunning dramas on television,” said History general manager Dirk Hoogstra. “With its large, passionate and loyal fan base, Vikings has cemented History firmly in the scripted series genre, just as we are the leaders in reality television.”

My question now is that with the success of Vikings, what other series might they try for? I always thought AMC’s new Turn looked more like a History show.

Are you excited for season three of Vikings? What have you thought of season two?
