Web Therapy Sneak Peeks: Meryl Streep and Rosie O’Donnell Guest Star

web therapy showtimeOn the surface, Dr. Fiona Wallice is pretty much on top of the world. With a business getting on its feet, a book that looks to be finished fairly soon, and a husband aspiring to public office, it’s a regular professional and personal boom for the inventor of web therapy (and star of Web Therapy). But things are not always as they seem, particularly in this case; web therapy hasn’t taken off in the way that Fiona would have liked and the only reason she’s still with Kip, who she thought cheated on her, is due to the perks of being a candidate’s wife.

On the season premiere of Web Therapy, titled “Getting it Straight”, Fiona has a chat with Kip’s (presumably) ex-gay therapist (Meryl Streep) who informs her that he’s undergoing aversion therapy in the form of electroshock treatment. And, to beat it all, he’d rather look at a picture of David Hasselhoff with the voltage at its maximum legal capacity than look at a picture of Fiona, so it looks like he isn’t exactly thrilled to be back with his wife, either. Kip and Fiona may have come to an understanding about their mutually beneficial partnership, bore from an unsatisfying marriage, but how long can that deeply seated disdain bubble under the surface before it explodes?

Elsewhere on Web Therapy, Fiona holds a session with a Catholic woman named Maxine (Rosie O’Donnell), but it’s quickly proven that Dr. Wallice is not having some crisis of faith or harboring guilt for any of her previous actions. At least not in the context of the sneak peek, where Maxine tries to question Fiona about her faith and…well, let’s just say that Fiona doesn’t quite have all the answers. Anywhere in life, but especially pertaining to religion.

The second season of Web Therapy premieres Monday, July 2nd at 11:00 on Showtime. You can check out the rest of the channel’s summer programming, including return dates for The Real L Word and The Franchise, here.
