Weeds' seventh season will premiere tonight on Showtime (read more details about season 7 here). There's a lot of talk recently about whether or not Weeds will end with season 7. Let's see what the competing sides are saying.
Weeds' showrunner, Jenji Kohan, has revealed to EW that her contract will run out with season 7 and she's unsure what the future holds. Executive producer Roberto Benabib spoke to THR about the fate of the show. Benabib is also uncertain about a potential eighth season, but he has revealed that the season 7 finale could work as a prelude to season 8 or a series finale. “I think what you’ll see in the finale is obviously some closure to certain things, but you’ll also see great potential if there should be a Season 8.” In the event that Weeds is not renewed, Benabib believes that they'll be able to give fans a sense of closure.
However, star Justin Kirk told AOL that he's not sure that this coming season will be its last. "I think that when it's our last season it will be officially announced, because they will have us write to a series finale," he said. "And that has not happened in this particular case."
Of course, news of the cancellation could come at any time and the network may wait a while to see if negotiations with the showrunner and any others could end favorably if that's the route they would like to take. However, Benabib revealed that he isn't all that eager about a future for Weeds that didn't involve Kohan: “I think Jenji’s voice is very important to this show,” Benabib tells us. “Quite frankly, I don’t think I want to watch a Weeds without Jenji Kohan involved.”
Weeds fans will just have to wait and see if their show will have an eighth season or whether season 7 will be it. In the meantime, they have tonight's premiere to enjoy.

I agree that it wasn't as good as It could of been but it still had it's funny movements. Whether or not they should of stopped at season 4 to keep the show remembered in a very positive way that's up to you to think about.
