One of White Collar’s central themes is the dilemma that Neal Caffrey (Matt Bomer) constantly faces; should he be the con man he believes he naturally is, or should he take the moral path and invest in his agreed role with the FBI helping them catch criminals like him? This has been further emphasised this season by the cache of treasure that Neal and Mozzie (Willie Garson) are now in possession of, leading to a daily deception of Peter (Tim DeKay).
Tonight’s episode adds to this problem as Neal has to decide whether he should help track down a young con man who is wreaking havoc, or whether he should assist this man in escaping the watchful eye of the authorities.
It looks like the White Collar team will be comparing this new kid on the block to Neal, will he become jealous of the life his young counterpart is living? Will this cloud Neal’s judgement in regards to the case and his life choices? There is also the discussion about making changes and how hitting rock bottom is the place that makes this change possible. Neal is rather cryptic about when he hit rock bottom and if he even has. This season is all about choice so tonight will highlight this theme further by giving Neal this big decision to make.
Fans of White Collar also have a choice to make; a choice between which opening title sequence you want to see on the show for the rest of the season. Will you go for the new version or are you a fan of the old more guitar based titles? You can vote until 12 noon ET tomorrow (July 13) and for more details on how to do this head here.
In White Collar casting news, the USA show has managed to score another great guest star; Dylan Baker. TVLine has reported that Baker will be playing another ruthless character, this time a financier who not only has ties to a drug cartel but is also thought to be embezzling money from his own daughter’s private school. Baker is a brilliant character actor and has had some memorable guest starring roles, including the super creepy Colin Sweeney on The Good Wife. His episode of White Collar won’t air until the second half of the season in 2012, but Baker has been rather busy of late as he will also be a regular on the new season of Damages that premieres tomorrow (July 13, 10 P.M. DirecTV) and he will be playing Katherine McPhee’s father on the new NBC musical drama Smash.
White Collar has been performing well this season, last week saw the best ratings since the summer 2010 finale, clocking in 4.2 million viewers. Have you been watching this season? Let us know what you think Neal should do in the comments.
