Tonight on White Collar: 3.10 "Countdown"

white collarIt is the White Collar mid-season finale tonight and it looks like things will be getting rather difficult for Neal (Matt Bomer). The stolen Nazi treasure has become the focus again for Peter (Tim DeKay), after Mozzie (Willie Garson) sold the Degas painting that was on the partial artifact manifest list. Will it all unravel for Neal tonight? Warning spoilers ahead.

Neal not only has the watchful eye of Peter to deceive but must also contend with the best from D.C. Art Crimes (guest star Beau Bridges) and foe Matthew Keller (Ross McCall), who evaded both the authorities and the bounty that was on his head last week and will play a part in tonight's proceedings. Beau Bridges will be playing Agent Kramer, who is called in to help investigate the sellers of the Degas painting from the Nazi haul. He is not only a terrific Art Crimes agent but he is also Peter's mentor who taught him everything he knows. Neal also gets tasked with helping on this case; will this catch him in a lie or will it just allow him to stay one step ahead of the FBI? Neal will have to be at his conning best tonight as he has to appear to be working with the FBI whilst he is actually working with Mozzie to stop the discovery of the treasure.

Peter will face concern from home as Elizabeth (Tiffani Thiessen) is concerned with Peter's obsession with this case, likening it to the last time he was after Neal. What Elizabeth doesn't realise is how difficult it will actually get for Peter.

One relationship that does face strain isn't necessarily Peter and Neal who have played this game of cat and mouse on several occasions, but is actually Neal and Mozzie. Neal revealed to Mozzie in the heat of the moment last week that he did have the partial manifest list in his possession, even thought he claimed to have not recovered it from Peter's safe. This lie is a big one and will sow some seeds of doubt between the pair; will this hamper how effective they are together as a team in evading the FBI?

One thing that we can be sure of is that this summer finale will be action packed and it promises to have a jaw-dropping moment that will leave you desperate for more. Overall this season of White Collar has been terrific especially with this added level of deception. The overall theme of choice has been well executed as Neal is clearly in a quandary as to what path he should take; the one that seems natural as a con man or the one in which he stops criminals like himself. With another half of the season to go I'm sure that this choice will not be decided tonight but it might reveal which side he is leaning toward. There is always the chance of course that he could end up with nothing as he has lied to both Peter and Mozzie, so this uncertainty might actually cost Neal his best friend and his freedom.

The second half of the season will air in January, 2012 and you can catch tonight's episode on USA at 9 P.M.
