Tonight on White Collar: Taking Down a Giant
White Collar returned last week and an immediate threat was dealt with. Neal (Matt Bomer) learnt some truths about who his father really is and why James (Trent Williams) abandoned his family. Tonight we will continue with the investigation into the corrupt cops who framed James and it leads to some pretty lofty heights.
Neal's father James is no cop killer, James was set up after he refused to continue with his part in helping with illegal activities. The people that set him up are now so highly connected that they could arrange to get Dennis Flynn murdered by a fellow prisoner in a speedy fashion. The gun that they found in Flynn's office is the same one that murdered Ellen and it looks like someone was making sure that Flynn wouldn't reveal who he was working for.
This person could very well be Senator Pratt (Titus Welliver) who happened to be James' Captain at the time James was set up for murder. Pratt is played by the always wonderful Titus Welliver (Lost, Argo) and since it was announced that Welliver had been cast on White Collar I have been excited to see what role he would play. As you can see in the sneak peeks below Pratt is good at pretending that he is the good guy, but there is also a menace to his tone and thinly veiled threats that suggest he might know who Neal really is.
Peter (Tim DeKay) seems convinced that Pratt is one of the corrupt cops that helped frame James and he also happened to be the one who called in the transfer request on Flynn. Neal asks Peter "Are you ready to take down a giant?" and Peter emphatically replies "Grab your slingshot." It looks like this investigation will be taking center stage for the remaining episodes of season 4. Peter and Neal should be careful though as we have seen how quick Pratt can move with dispatching a threat.
