My occasional enjoyment of the rebooted 90210 (now in its third season on The CW) doesn’t compare to my enjoyment of the original version – Beverly Hills 90210 – but it has its moments. That being said, I still watch it every Monday night when it airs.
When I hear certain spoilers, however, I can’t help but groan, wondering whether the new 90210 will come up with a storyline that wasn’t already done on the original.
For example, Ausiello has revealed that Annie’s cousin will be joining the cast this year, and she’s not going to be a sweet young girl from the sticks:
The show is getting ready to introduce the recurring role of Emily, Annie’s country bumpkin cousin who moves to Beverly Hills with one goal in mind: to steal her cuz’s life! In addition to going after all of Annie’s acting parts, Emily also makes a play for her BF Liam. Bottom line: The CW is rebooting All About Eve!
I admit, I didn’t watch as much of the original 90210 after the kids went off to college, but does this remind you of the storyline they did with Valerie? Family friend of the Walshes comes to town, turns out to be a bad girl and starts going after things that the other girls in the cast want? To be fair, it probably won’t turn out exactly like the Valerie storyline, but it’s interesting that they’re introducing another new character on the show when so many of the main characters have little to do right now (I’m thinking of Silver, who seems somewhat directionless this season). On the other hand, maybe the introduction of Emily will rouse up some action on the show.
In other news, Ausiello has also stated that “sparks will fly between Navid and Silver around episode eight”. This is an interesting twist in the group dynamic, though this group has been pretty insular in terms of its relationships lately. Will Navid be giving up on Adrianna entirely? Ausiello also volunteered that Ivy’s estranged father will be introduced in early 2011, so it’s likely we’ll be having more of Ivy’s family life flushed out for us going forward.
