Way back when, HBO was considering a Preacher show, but it was ultimately deemed “too controversial” to ever move forward in any meaningful way. Yes, that’s right. Too controversial. For HBO. Well, now times have changed and AMC is looking for a way to fill the void of Breaking Bad. They’re reportedly set on making a Preacher pilot and they’re bringing…Seth Rogen on board to do it?
That’s at least according to Seth Rogen’s Twitter, where he excitedly says that he’s finally going to be able to work on Preacher:
“Looks like about seven of years of hard work are about to pay off. I may get to bring one of my favourite stories ever to life.”
In case you were banned from reading the series as a child, here’s a brief description via TVLine:
“Preacher follows Reverend Jesse Custer, a small-town Texas minister on the verge of losing his faith when he merges with a spiritual force called Genesis – making him more mighty than the Almighty. Able to command the obedience of those who hear his words and joined by his gun-toting girlfriend Tulip and the hard-drinking Irish vampire Cassidy, Custer begins a violent journey across the country in search of answers from a disenfranchised God.”
In short, it’s an amazing series and could make for a hell of a TV show. And if Seth Rogen is passionate about it, well, I say give him a shot.
