Basketball Wives Season 4 Sneak Peek: Down on the Farm

It usually takes a minute for a new cast member on a show like Basketball Wives acclimates themselves. It’s very different being on the outside looking in and being on the inside of a stormy group like that, particularly if they’ve been together for a while, and being yourself can get a low position on the totem pole.

Luckily, Kesha has been a refreshing part of this season of Basketball Wives; instead of intentionally provoking the others for her own enjoyment or having a screaming match at the drop of a hat, Kesha’s brought a laidback normalcy to her time on the show. As evidenced by the sneak peek of Monday’s episode, that normalcy has been rooted in her from birth, considering Kesha’s upbringing in rural North Carolina. Watching her take to beat up pick-up trucks and ATVs like a duck to water tells you all you need to know about her, as she lacks the above-it-all snootiness and close-mindedness of other wives.

But most importantly, their trip to North Carolina lets Kesha tell her side of the story and why Tami crossed the line in how she approached Kesha’s race. It’s not that Tami asked; it’s how she asked that stirred up some negative memories for Kesha, as she’s had to deal with people ignorant to what it means to be biracial from the time she was born. It didn’t help that she didn’t know her father and his family, thereby cutting off any opportunity to get in touch with her “black side”, so racial identity is a sensitive topic for Kesha.

Elsewhere in the Basketball Wives sneak peek, Tami still doesn’t get it and Evelyn seems bound and determined to act stupid anytime she’s around Jennifer.

Basketball Wives airs Monday at 8:00 on VH1, followed by the premieres of LaLa’s Full Court Life and Styled by June.

What do you think about where Kesha grew up? Do you think Tami went too far in their argument? Is Evelyn right in how she’s handled Jennifer this season?
