Last week the Sci Fi channel released the first in a ten part series of webisodes that will be released each week, leading up to the premiere of the second half of the forth season. In a recent interview with Sci-Fi Wire, Jane Espenson, who co-wrote and produced the new webisode series, “The Face of the Enemy,” says that they will “inform and motivate” some of the events that take place in the upcoming final episodes of the show.
She went on to say, “It will motivate decisions Gaeta will make in the second half of season four, in the upcoming episodes. I think if you didn’t see the webisodes, you would buy the decisions that Gaeta makes, but I think if you see the webisodes, you’ll really buy the decisions that Gaeta makes.”
This makes watching the webisodes even more crucial to us hard-core fans than webisodes of previous shows that tend to add to the overall story, but not interfere with upcoming episode plots.
The first two episodes can be seen on the Sci Fi website now, with the other episodes being released based on the following schedule: Dec. 17: Chapter 3; Dec. 22: Chapter 4; Dec. 24: Chapter 5; Dec. 29: Chapter 6; Dec. 31: Chapter 7; Jan. 5: Chapter 8; Jan. 7: Chapter 9; and Jan. 12: Chapter 10.
Each episode, which runs approximately 4 minutes, can also be seen in enhanced mode which features a commentary as well. Battlestar Galactica returns to SCI FI at 10 p.m. ET/PT on Jan. 16, 2009, with the remaining episodes of its fourth and final season.
