A Blink-And-You’ll-Miss-It Look at The Flash’s Logo and Speedy CGI

the flash

The CW has released a new teaser trailer for tomorrow night’s Arrow finale, and along with it, comes the revelation of a sneak peek at The Flash after the episode airs.

The teaser is only thirty seconds long, so the part featuring The Flash only has about three seconds to itself. But in that time, we get to see the new logo for the show, and a taste of what the CGI of the “super speed’ effects for the character will look like. We’ve already seen Grant Gustin’s costume in still photos, but now we have to see it live, in action, which can be a different matter altogether, and can make or break a character.

There’s no more pressing FX issue than how The Flash’s speed will be rendered onscreen. For years, Smallville made do with a “blur” motion effect that actually ended up Clark Kent landing the nickname, “The Blur” at one point during the show. It seems that technology has evolved to the point where super speed can now be a little more…impressive, and it will be key to The Flash looking awesome, not silly.

Watch the new teaser for yourself below, and tune into the finale of Arrow tomorrow. If you’ve been watching this season, I’m sure I don’t even have to tell you to do that.

What do you think of the footage? Do you believe that The Flash will be a worthy Arrow spin-off or a failed experiment to bring an overlooked DC character into the light?
