Poor Christian Slater. The guy just can’t catch a break.
Breaking In premiered to solid ratings for Fox. The series, which focuses on a group of thieves who work at a security agency, had nearly 10 million viewers for its premiere episode, and had American Idol as a lead-in. The ratings for Breaking In did drop-off after the premiere, and started averaging between 7 and 8 million viewers each week.
According to Deadline, the cancellation of Breaking In is a strange move, because the show actually performs better than other Fox comedies such as Traffic Light (and the already-canceled Running Wilde). Fox’s Upfront presentation isn’t until early next week, but it looks like the network is already putting its schedule out there. We might get a full picture of their Fall schedule before the end of this week. Read more about their new pilot pick-ups here.
I’m not yet sure how many un-aired episodes of Breaking In exist and whether they will air or be pulled from the schedule.
Updated: In an unexpected twist of fate, it looks like Fox has decided to revive this series. For more information, click here.
