Charlie Sheen Donates Anger Management Money To Troops

So, who would have thought last year that Charlie Sheen’s biggest headline would be for being a stand up, patriotic citizen? That’s what’s happening, though, since the Anger Management star has decided to turn over a new charitable leaf.

Sheen, since starting his TV comeback with Anger Management, has seemed to soften a bit and decide to do a bit of good with his wealth and popularity. Just this week, he announced that he would be donating one percent of his Anger Management earnings to the USO beginning, but not ending, with a one million dollar donation. Not only does this appear very generous, but it’s one for the record books as well, making it the largest donation by an individual in USO history ever.

This isn’t Sheen’s only act of philanthropy as of late, having completed a charity run last month in Illinois for pancreatic cancer research and detection. In addition, in response to American Idol executive producer Nigel Lythgoe’s suggestion that Sheen should take a seat at the judges table for the upcoming season, he indicated that he would be on board if the network was willing to make significant charitable donations to organizations he works with (and if Anger Management network, FX, would give him the go ahead, of course).

Sheen’s million dollar initial donation to the USO is to be paid in installments, with the first being handed over in a private ceremony next week. The Anger Management star has made it clear that, for now, there is no cap on the amount he may donate to help wounded warriors and their families.

In a statement Sheen stated, ‘They put their lives on the line for us every day, and I’m just happy that my work on ‘╦ťAnger Management’can bring a little bit of relief to the troops and their families.’

Kudos to you, Charlie Sheen. What a difference a year makes.
