Details About Project Runway All Stars Released

If the designers on Project Runway need to make it work and no one’s around to tell them to do so, can they still make it work?

That’s one of the many conundrums facing the 13 designers invited back to compete on Project Runway All Stars, a season whose surprising details were released by Lifetime today. Gone (for this season) are Heidi, Nina, Michael, and Tim; in their place, we have model Angela Lindvall serving as host, with designer Isaac Mizrahi and co-founder of Marchesa Georgina Chapman acting as judges. Marie Claire editor-in-chief Joanna Coles will join the show as the mentor to our lucky 13. Mizrahi is coming off two seasons on Bravo’s The Fashion Show, while Chapman has previously guest judged on Project Runway.

The prizes this season will be an exclusive designer’s boutique in select Neiman Marcus stores, $100,000 in cash from L’Oreal Paris, $100,000 in technology and office supplies from HP and Intel, a feature spread in Marie Claire, a one year guest editor position at Marie Claire, and a sewing and embroidery studio. Not too shabby, right?

Competing for that truckload of goodies are designers from every season but one, with an interesting mix of personality, talent, and snark that should make for some pretty tense group challenges. No date has been set for Project Runway All Stars, but the current season of Project Runway (with all the regulars) can be seen Thursdays at 9:00 on Lifetime.

What do you think the show will be like without Heidi and company? Which designer should be the early favorite to win Project Runway All Stars? Who, if anybody, do you think got snubbed an invite to this season?
