Elisabeth Hasselbeck was the resident conservative voice on The View for years, but after sparring and sparring with co-hosts, she’s heading for smoother waters.
Hasselbeck will now be a co-host on the more friendly Fox and Friends. Her last day on the view will be Wednesday. ABC released a statement about her departure:
“For a decade, Elisabeth Hasselbeck has brought her passion and strong beliefs to ‘The View. We watched her journey from newlywed to motherhood, an Emmy Award-winning talk show host, author, entrepreneur and activist. She stood behind her political views even if they were not the most popular opinions at the table never shying away from voicing a difficult question. Â We thank Elisabeth and wish her luck as she begins this new chapter of her career.”
And Fox’s Roger Ailes released one about her arrival:
“Elisabeth’s warm and engaging personality made her a star on ‘The View. She has proven to be an excellent conversationalist and I am certain she will make a great addition to our already successful morning franchise.”
It was so long ago that some might forget, but Hasselbeck first rose to fame after reaching the final four on Survivor. She turned that appearance into a rather impressive career, which continues to this day on her new show.
Can’t say I’m the biggest Fox and Friends fan, but I wish Hasselbeck well in the new venture. Fox News always needs more conservative blondes, after all.
