Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl made it very clear to THR just how he felt about having a Foos song sung by the Glee cast.
‘It’s every band’s right, you shouldn’t have to do ***** Glee,’he said. “And then the guy who created Glee is so offended that we’re not, like, begging to be on his ****ing show…*** that guy for thinking anybody and everybody should want to do Glee.” He later added this: ‘And it’s just like, dude, maybe not everyone loves Glee. Me included.’
He’s not the first to speak out against having a song on the show, as Damon Albam (Gorillaz), Slash (Guns N’ Roses) and Kings of Leon have done so in the recent past. Slash’s comments were the most humorous of the bunch: ‘Actually, we got asked about that once already but it got turned down,’he said. ‘In the current climate of what’s going on in entertainment these days, I try to be more optimistic than negative because it’s really easy to get negative about it, but I draw the line at Glee. Glee is worse than Grease and Grease is bad enough…When Grease came out I was like, ‘Oh, c’mon, give me a break.’Actually, I look at Grease now and think: Between High School Musical and Glee, Grease was a brilliant work of art.’
I’m curious to see the reactions of those who are fans of both the band and the show. Maybe we can start printing TEAM GLEE and TEAM FOOS shirts. Kings of Leon got into a big public war of words with Murphy. Now that Grohl has had his say, we’ll see if Murphy fires back. Stay tuned.
