Simon Cowell’s new sure-to-be-powerhouse singing competition, The X Factor, will be coming to FOX this fall. Already thousands of fans have auditioned for the new reality show, and we’re slowly getting reports about who will be judging the competition.
Antonio “L.A.” Reid, former Chairman of Island Def Jam Music Group, has already been announced as one of the three celebrity judges of the show. Now Cowell has confirmed to radio host Jackie Brown that Mariah Carey will be appearing on the live shows in some capacity. According to Huffington Post, he said: “I met her recently and she was on great form. And her idea was to be the judge of the judges, which only Mariah could come up with. She’ll be involved in some form. I literally adore her. I love her to bits.”
Carey will soon be giving birth her first child – a set of twins, actually.
Other potential judges include Paula Abdul, Jessica Simpson, Nicki Minaj and UK star Cheryl Cole. It’s also rumored that Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole Scherzinger might be the host, although nothing has been confirmed yet.
The X Factor will include competitors from all over the country, ages 12 and up. Solo artists and vocal groups will have the opportunity to compete for a $5 million recording contract from Syco/Sony Music. The show will premiere on FOX in September.
