Five Actors Who Should Play Beto O’Rourke in a Movie

Depending on who you talk to you might hear that Beto O’Rourke is what this country needs or he’ll be another Democrat looking to push reform and other laws that will lead us down the same path as Barack Obama. In any case his policies and his rhetoric is not what’s on display here, but rather the idea of who would play his part in a movie should such a thing ever happen. Considering that historical figures tend to make very enticing and sometimes convincing Hollywood movies it could very well happen. The trick however would be to find someone that looks like him, can sound like him, and might not care if their political ideas don’t match up to his own. Actors are actors after all, they tend to take on a role now and then that they don’t really agree with and just run with it. Whether they need therapy later on is up to them.

Here are a few men that might be able to play the part of O’Rourke.

5. Tobey Maguire

This might seem like an odd pick but there had to be at least one in the mix since when you look at movies that feature actual people that have existed in history you tend to get those that don’t look anything like the individual and have no business playing them. Tobey could at least give this part a pretty good run though since it might take some doing but he could pull off the look at least enough to make it feasible. Of course he doesn’t have the strong jaw line but at the same time he can pull the type of looks that O’Rourke gives from time to time and his acting is still pretty good.

4. Jon Hamm

This guy just feels way too under-utilized when it comes to Hollywood and while he’s been in a few good movies during his time his ability to play the lead has rarely been tested in a movie that could really catapult him to the level of stardom he needs to keep going. Jon is such an enjoyable character to watch since he gets into what he’s doing so often and can make people believe in him in a big way. He’s also proven that he can do drama, horror, and action, so there’s no reason to keep him as a supporting actor or sidelined at times when he can be a huge asset to just about any movie he’s involved with.

3. Paul Rudd

This guy doesn’t seem to age, at all. He looks almost the same as he did when he first got into the business, albeit with a little more gray when he’s acting in certain movies. To think that he could play this role and nail it is something that’s easy to say without any doubt since he’s been able to be that chameleon-like individual that you look to as someone who can make you care about a character even if you had no intention to. Seriously, he was put into Endgame with a host of actors that were already well-established thanks to Infinity War and he still came out looking pretty good.

2. Patrick Dempsey

Oh just tell me the ladies wouldn’t love this one. Dempsey has been such a heartthrob for so long that it’s hard not to think that the attendance to such a movie wouldn’t be escalated to mass numbers if he was playing in it. That’s the one thing you can count on when it comes to some actors, people will come watch a movie just because it’s them starring in it. They could care little to nothing for the content, the story, or anything else, so long as they get to see their favorite actor in action so they can talk about it later. Yeah, that seems to be the effect that Dempsey might have if he was selected.

1. Edward Norton

This is an actor that’s been able to play tough characters, weak characters, and everything in between since he seems capable of adapting so well. This doesn’t seem like it would be much of an issue for Norton since quite honestly he’s played the kind of person that O’Rourke has been seen as before and has pulled it off beautifully. To some he’s kind of an annoying actor in a way, but in a lot of ways he’s someone that’s invaluable to show business since he seems to understand how to make it work and, all controversies aside, how to deliver a product that people will be able to get behind. Anything else is just details that may or may not have anything to do with the job.

It does seem as though the biggest question at the end would be whether O’Rourke’s supporters would think that the movie portrayed him in a fair and even-handed manner.
