Five Things You Didn’t Know About “Hollywood Darlings”

“Hollywood Darlings” is a comedy series that is based on reality and follows three real-life friends who all share a bond because they were childhood stars. The lead roles are played by Christine Lakin, Beverley Mitchell, and Jodie Sweetin. The characters of the women are exaggerated versions of themselves and they improvise using their current situations in Hollywood as the basis for each comedy scene. The first season of this comedy series was a success and it has now been renewed for a second series by Pop. The series was created by Jimmy Fox and is one of the network’s biggest ratings performers. Here are five things you didn’t know about ‘Hollywood Darlings’.

1. The Stars All Have January Birthdays

Unusually, the three stars of this show all have birthdays in January. In fact, there are just six days between them. However, they were all born in different years. Having been born in 1977, Lakin is the eldest of the trio. Mitchell was born in 1981 and Sweetin was born a year later.

2. The Women Were Stars of the 1980s and 1990s

All the women were stars in their childhood and this spanned the 1980s and the 1990s. Jodie Sweetin is best-known for her role in ‘Full House’ in which she played Stephanie Tanner for 193 episodes between 1987 and 1995. Christine Lakin played Alicia ‘Al’ Lambert in a total of 160 episodes of ‘Step by Step’ from 1991 to 1998. In ‘7th Heaven’, Beverley Mitchell played the character of Lucy Camden. She appeared in this television series for 243 episodes between 1996 and 2007.

3. Beverley Mitchell’s Friend Died in a Car Accident

Beverley Mitchell suffered a loss in her life which has deeply affected her. Her friend, Angela, was killed in a car accident in 1997 at the age of just 17. Not only has Mitchell written about the incident in her book ‘Chicken Soup for the Preteen Soul’, she also used her friend as inspiration for the hit song ‘Angel’, which featured on Mitchell’s debut album.

4. Jodie Sweetin Appeared on ‘Dancing with the Stars’

Sweetin’s participation in DWTS was announced on March 2, 2016. Shortly after this, it was revealed that her professional dancing partner for the 22nd season of the dancing competition was Keo Motsepe. Although she did not win the competition, Sweetin certainly did not embarrass herself on the show. She was eliminated in the eighth week of the season and finished in sixth place overall. This was not Sweetin’s first involvement in a dancing show as she had previously hosted the second season of ‘Pants-Off-Dance-Off’.

5. Christine Lakin Has Won Awards

Christine Lakin has been nominated for many awards during her career and she has won several of these. One of these was in 2009 when she was awarded the LA Weekly Theater Award for Female Comedy Performance. However, not all her awards have been in recognition of her talents as an actress. Along with Paris Hilton, she won the Golden Raspberry Award for the Worst Screen Couple. This was for their roles in ‘The Hottie and the Nottie’.
