The Five Worst Harrison Ford Movie Roles of His Career

Harrison Ford is a famous American actor and producer who was born in Chicago, Illinois, on July 13, 1942. His successful career has spanned six decades with him starring in many Blockbuster movies. He is best-known for his roles as Hans Solo in the Star Wars movies and for playing the lead role in the Indian Jones series of movies. Other well-known movies he has starred in include ‘Blade Runner’, ‘Witness’, ‘Patriot Games’, and ‘Clear and Present Danger’. However, despite this actor predominantly enjoying success and critical acclaim for his movies, not all of his roles have been quite as successful.

Here are five of Harrison Ford’s worst movie roles of his career.

1. Random Hearts

Random Hearts is a romantic comedy that was released in 1999. Harrison Ford and Kristin Scott Thomas star in this movie that was directed by Sydney Pollack. The movie was written by Darryl Ponicsan and is about a congresswoman and a policeman who discover their spouses were having an affair together before they were killed in an air accident. Critics received this movie negatively and said that although there were good elements to the movie, they did not meet up to create a movie that was good as a whole.

2. Hollywood Homicide

Ford played Detective Sergeant Joseph ‘Joe’ Gavilan in this 2003 action comedy movie. Others starring alongside him included Josh Hartnett, Bruce Greenwood, Lolita Davidovich, Lena Olin, and Isaiah Washington. Robert Shelton directed the movie and also co-wrote the film with Robert Souza, who based the story on his own experiences. Souza moonlighted as a real estate broker in the later stages of his career as a homicide detective in the Los Angeles Police Department. The movie was a critical and financial disaster. It had a budget of $75 million yet made just over $51million in worldwide box office sales.

3. Six Days, Seven Nights

Released in 1998, this action-adventure comedy was written by Michael Browning and was directed by Ivan Reitman. Harrison played opposite Anne Heche in the two leading roles. While planning a trip to visit her boyfriend, a journalist is flown in a dilapidated plane by a pilot and the pair land on a deserted island. Although this film was reasonably successful at the box office and took $164 million, it was slated by the critics.

4. Firewall

Harrison Ford played Jack Stanfield in this disappointing crime thriller. His character is a banker who criminals force to aid them in stealing $100 million. The movie was written by Joe Forte and directed by Richard Loncraine. Not only was this a box office failure, it also received negative reviews from both critics and moviegoers.

5. Hanover Street

This is one of Harrison Ford’s earlier movies as it was released in 1979. This Anglo-American wartime romance was written and directed by Peter Hyams and starred Christopher Plummer and Lesley-Anne Down alongside Ford. It did reasonably well at the box office on the back of Ford’s fame from his role in Star Wars. However, the critical response was less favorable and it was also criticized for historical inaccuracies.
