Earlier today, it was reported that 12 Monkeys actor Demore Barnes has been tapped to play Henry Hewitt a.k.a. Tokamak, a famous Firestorm villain in the DC Universe who will be showing up in an episode of the second season of The Flash. But in the world of casting news, it never stops and this next piece of news is going to be very exciting for long-time fans of The Flash comics.
TVLine broke the news that actress Violett Beane has been cast in the famous role of Jesse Quick, another famous speedster in the Flash mythology. Beane is set to appear in multiple episodes of Season 2, and while TVLine wouldn’t reveal WHEN we can expect to meet her, they did give us a description of her arc in the season, as she is a “brilliant but quirky college student” who gets caught up in the battle between The Flash and this season’s main antagonist: Zoom.
In the DC lore, Jesse Quick is the alter-ago of Jesse Chambers, daughter of Johnny Quick and Liberty Belle, two heroes in the Golden Age, and while she does have super-speed, like her dad, she accesses that power through a speed formula. She may not have powers (as far as we know) when we first meet her on the show, but it’s safe to say that we will more than likely see her comic book counterpart at some point throughout the series.
The Flash Season 2 premieres on Tuesday, Oct. 6, at 8 p.m. on The CW.
