Fringe & Glee Pair with Twitter for Interactive TV Experience

The Fox Network has decided to jump on the Twitter bandwagon (because who hasn’t at this point?). This week, Fox will be reairing the season 1 finale of Fringe and the series premiere of Glee with an interactive Twitter experience.

Dubbed a “tweet-peat”, Fringe will re-air last season’s finale at 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 3, during which time stars Joshua Jackson and John Noble and producers Jeff Pinkner and J.H. Wyman will be live-tweeting. Fox will display their tweets in the bottom third portion of the screen. Fans will also be able to take to their twitter accounts and tweet their own questions by writing #FRINGE in their own posts.

Glee’s pilot will re-air at 9:00 p.m. on Friday, September 4 and stars Lea Michele, Kevin McHale, Mark Salling, Cory Monteith, Amber Riley and Chris Colfe will participate. Fan’s should use the tag #GLEE in their tweets.

I’m tired of writing the word “tweets”.

Basically, this is like an interactive version of DVD commentary or those “enhanced” Lost episodes that are aired with facts and trivia popping up at the bottom of the screen.

What do think of this? Gimmick or cool idea?
