It sounds like things will be getting pretty chilly on Gotham quite soon. The FOX drama has cast House of Cards‘ Nathan Darrow to play the iconic Batman character Victor Fries, aka Mr. Freeze. The role is said to be recurring.
TVLine reported the casting news. Here’s the official description for Gotham‘s version of Mr. Freeze:
Though ferociously smart and eminently capable in his work as one of Gotham’s preeminent cryogenics engineers, Victor struggles to make meaningful connections with others. The one exception is his wife, Nora (casting TBA), who has tragically fallen ill with a terminal disease. Victor’s love for Nora knows no bounds, so as her condition worsens, he goes to extreme measures to figure out a way to freeze her before she dies. This harrowing journey leads to his transformation into the legendary DC villain, Mr. Freeze.
In addition to House of Cards, Darrow’s TV credits include Blue Bloods and upcoming roles in HBO’s Madoff family film Wizard of Lies and Showtime’s new series Billions. The actor is expected to make his Gotham debut sometime in December, with his planned arc continuing over into the the show’s 2016 episodes as well.
Gotham airs Mondays at 8 p.m. on FOX. Comment below with your thoughts on Darrow’s casting. Do you think he’ll make a good Mr. Freeze?
