Heavenly: Lauren Cohan Cast as Lead

The CW has quite a few pilots in development for next season. One of them is a show called Heavenly. Deadline reports that Lauren Cohan has been cast as the female lead in the pilot.

Cohan should be recognizable to CW fans. She was a recurring character in season 3 of Supernatural and then appeared in several episodes of The Vampire Diaries this season.

Cohan will be playing Lily in Heavenly, a young attorney who teams up with a former angel, Dashiel Coffee (played by Ben Aldridge), who’s been recently turned human. The two of them will work together on cases for a legal aid clinic. If you watch Supernatural, then think of Heavenly as the Castiel show (if he was made human), but with lawyers. Chances are Dashiel will have the whole “fish out of water” personality thing going on, what with being an angel for so long. 90210’s Ryan Eggold has also been cast as a pastor who helps advise Dashiel.

While I wasn’t crazy about Cohan’s character Bela on Supernatural, I do like her as an actress (and really enjoyed her role on The Vampire Diaries). But with quite a few new pilots for The CW, there’s no telling which shows will make the cut and premiere in the Fall of 2011.

The show is produced by CBS TV Studios and writer Richard Hatem.
