‘Hell on Wheels’ is a television series based on the construction of the First Transcontinental Railroad in the United States. The name of the series comes from the town where the workers lived which was also called ‘Hell on Wheels’. The series chronicles the lives of the laborers, surveyors, prostitutes, and families living in the town. The series aired on AMC between 2011 and 2016. There were many talented cast members in this series, but which of them is enjoying the most success post series?
1. Anson Mount
Anson Mount began his acting career in 1999 when he had a few small roles in television series before making his film debut in the 2000 film ‘Urban Legends: Final Cut’. He played the lead role of Cullen Bohannon in ‘Hell on Wheels’ for the entire series. While filming for this series, he also had several roles in films. Since the series ended, he landed the lead role in ‘Inhumans’ and is also playing the role of Captain Christopher Pike in ‘Star Trek: Discovery’.
2. Colm Meaney
Colm Meaney had already enjoyed a successful career in both film and television prior to starring as Thomas C. Durrant in ‘Hell on Wheels’ as his acting career began in 1978. His experience in the industry meant that there was little doubt that he would continue to enjoy success in his career. In the year that the series ended, Colm Meaney had roles in four films. These included ‘Norm of the North’, ‘Pele: Birth of a Legend’, ‘The Journey’, and ‘The Secrets of Emily Blair’. He is currently filming ‘Tolkien’ which is set for release in 2018. He has also played the role of Will Burbage in ten episodes of the 2017 series ‘Will’.
3. Christopher Heyerdahl
Christopher Heyerdahl played Mr. Swede in ‘Hell on Wheels’. In the first season, he was a recurring cast member and then became a main cast member for the remaining seasons. Since the series ended, he has enjoyed success in the television industry as he has continued to get many roles in television series. Although some of these have been for only one or two episodes, he has had some recurring roles. These include ‘2012-2018’, ‘Van Helsing’, and ‘Tin Star’. He has also appeared in two video games since the end of ‘Hell on Wheels’.
4. Dohn Norwood
Dohn Norwood was a newcomer to the acting industry when he landed the role of Psalms Jackson in ‘Hell on Wheels’ as this was his first serious role in television. He was a series regular for the first two seasons and then became a member of the main cast for the remaining seasons. Since the series has ended, he has landed the role of Detective Dan Leroy in the television series ‘The Sinner’. In terms of films, he has played Ralph Abernathy in the 2016 film ‘All the Way’ and is playing Peter in the 2018 film ‘What Still Remains’.
5. Chelah Horsdal
Chelah Horsdal played Maggie Palmer who was a recurring character in seasons three and four and then a main cast member in season five of ‘Hell on Wheels’. She was nominated for two Leo Awards for her portrayal of this character. Towards the end of the series, she was also playing Helen Smith in ‘The Man in the High Castle’ and won the Leo Award for Best Supporting Performance by a Female in a Dramatic Series’. Since then, she has appeared in many television series, including playing the recurring role of Lori Matherfield in 16 episodes of ‘You Me Her’. She also played Donna Phillips in the television film ‘Pretty Little Addict’. In 2016, she won the Los Angeles Independent Film Festival Award for her portrayal of Tess/ The Queen in ‘Candiland’. She is playing a therapist in a 2018 film called ‘Boundaries’.
