Who doesn’t love lasagna? However, a lot of people are daunted by the mere thought of making it themselves. Instead, they go out to a restaurant and spend three or four times as much on a single serving or they end up buying those boxed TV dinners that call themselves lasagna. Either way, you’re doing yourself a disservice. The truth is, lasagna doesn’t have to be that hard to make. It does, however, take a fair share of patience to do it correctly.

In order to make the lasagna, you need three different kinds of meat. You might choose hamburger, sausage and veal. Brown all of this up and in a separate pan, chop onions, basil and other fresh vegetables. Sautee them and then bring everything together with some white wine. Once you have a nice sauce going, add tomatoes so that you have a ratio of about 3:1. Next, season the mixture with salt, pepper and a couple of bay leaves. Allow it to simmer on the stove for approximately 4 hours. When it’s done, add fresh parmesan cheese and some heavy cream. Typically, you want to include about one wedge of parmesan that you shred yourself.
Make homemade pasta by combining flour and eggs. If you don’t have a pasta cutter, you can use a knife and do it the old-fashioned way. Once your pasta is ready to go, put some of your mixture down in the bottom of a baking or casserole dish and top it with a couple of strips of pasta. Then you can add mozzarella and ricotta cheeses. Keep layering until the dish is full. Finally, add fresh parmesan and a little pepper. Bake at 325 degrees for about 45 minutes and then allow it to cool for same amount of time. Your lasagna is now ready to go, so grab family, friends and enjoy.
