US Weekly is reporting that Jersey Shore ladies’ man and blowout extraordinaire Paul “DJ Pauly D” DelVecchio has been added to six dates on Britney Spears’ upcoming Femme Fatale Tour. Starting on August 17th in Grand Rapids, Michigan, you can catch the reality star on the 1s and 2s in front of tens of thousands, fist pumping optional (but recommended). He joins Nicki Minaj, Jessie and the Toy Boys, and Nervo as North American opening acts for Spears’ seventh concert tour, this time in support of platinum selling release Femme Fatale.
Pauly’s big career move isn’t the first by a member of Jersey Shore and won’t be the last, as spin-offs, workout videos, books, commercials, and clothing lines have been the result of the meteoric rise to fame by the nation’s most famous guidos and guidettes. It makes a lot of sense and should solidify Pauly’s career for years to come, as he was a DJ before getting on reality TV and now will be able to get the boost of having opened for Britney Spears in addition to his previous experience DJ-ing and being on reality TV. He may not have the visibility of a Snooki or Situation, but DJ Pauly D just may be the last Jersey Shore cast member standing.
The show is currently filming the final season with its current cast (its fifth overall, slated for a likely bow in early 2012), with the fourth season premiering August 4th at 10:00 on MTV.
What do you think about Pauly making such a big career move? Do you think this will be addressed on the show’s fifth season? Are you planning on watching his spin-off when it airs?
