Lin-Manuel Miranda to Host Saturday Night Live

Lin-Manuel Miranda

Saturday Night Live will be getting very musical (and quite historic) this October when it welcomes Lin-Manuel Miranda. The Hamilton creator and star will serve as host in the upcoming Oct. 8 episode of SNL. Joining Miranda as musical guest will be Twenty One Pilots.

In addition to creating and starring in Hamilton, which won 11 Tony Awards this year and is easily the most popular show on Broadway, Miranda has also joined the Disney family in a major way. Miranda not only crafted a new Cantina song for J.J. Abrams for The Force Awakens (for those who don’t know, it’s called “Jabba Flow”), but he’s also one of the writers and musicians behind the music for the upcoming Disney animated film Moana, which hits theaters this Thanksgiving and features the voice talents of Auli’i Cravalho, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, and Alan Tudyk. Plus, he’ll also be stepping in front of the camera to play Jack in Disney’s Mary Poppins Returns, which is scheduled to arrive in theaters in 2018.

While Miranda will be hosting the second episode of Saturday Night Live this season, Suicide Squad star Margot Robbie will be kicking off Season 42 by hosting the premiere this Saturday, Oct. 1. Musical guest for Robbie’s episode will be The Weeknd.

Are you excited to see what Lin-Manuel Miranda will be able to do as SNL host? And how many Hamilton sketches do you think the show will try to cram in? Leave your thoughts (and place your bets) in the comments below.
