Malibu Country: First Look at ABC’s New Reba McEntire Comedy

Funnylady and musician Reba McEntire is returning to television in ABC’s new fall comedy, Malibu Country.

McEntire stars as Reba, a married woman who discovers that her country music star husband, Bobby (Jeffrey Nordling), is a giant cheater. Unhappy about putting her own dreams of stardom on the backburner to raise their family, Reba decides to turn her life around after her divorce.

Packing up her mother, Lillie May (Lily Tomlin), and her two kids, she heads for California to start a new chapter in their lives. Their Malibu house is the last remaining asset they have and they soon settle there. But despite her nice new neighbor Kim (Sara Rue) and her son, Sage, California is very different from Nashville and Reba feels like a fish out of water. But can she overcome it all to start her own music career with new agent Geoffrey (Jai Rodriguez)?

If you’re thinking Malibu Country sounds kind of similar to the recently cancelled GCB, I wouldn’t fault you. The premise seems to be quite familiar.

Watch a trailer for Malibu Country below, which will be airing on Fridays at 8:30 p.m., beginning in November.
