Nathan Fillion has a special place in all of our hearts. And it goes beyond his role on Castle. Those that followed Firefly have been enjoying Fillion for years. And those in New Orleans are about to get “Fillioned” during the most popular holiday of the year: Mardi Gras. Fillion will be king of the Krewe of Orpheus, which rolls the day before Mardi Gras. Fillion is best known for his role as the title character Richard Castle in ABC’s hit television series, “Castle.” His girlfriend, Krista Allen, star of CW’s “Significant Mother,” will ride with him.
The parade will have 40 floats, 30 marching bands and more than 1,300 members. It begins at 6 p.m. Feb. 8, on New Orleans’ traditional Uptown route. Parade co-founder Harry Connick Jr. will return to ride with this year’s parade, and will appear at the group’s post-parade gala, called the Orpheuscapade. The party is open to the public at a price of $150 per ticket.
Being an alumni of Tulane University, this holds a special place in my heart. It would be awesome to get back to that city and having a chance to rock out with Fillion would be pretty sweet. Anyone who’s ever been down there knows how amazing a time it is. Personally I think that Mardi Gras is too crowded (hang out Uptown, not downtown) and Orpheus is a great way to kick things off.
