NBC Announces Fall Season Premiere Dates

It’s that time of year when the networks announce the dates that their fall shows will premiere. Fox’s announced premiere dates are here, ABC’s are here, and The CW’s are here. Next up is NBC. After a relative debacle of a 2009-2010 season (thanks Jay Leno), the Peacock Network is banking on a bunch of new programming like The Event, Outsourced, and Undercovers to spark its comeback. Meanwhile, fan favorite (if not ratings powerhouse) Chuck is back for a fourth season, as well as NBC’s sole critical hits premiering last season, Parenthood and Community, return with full-season orders.

Of note, is 30 Rock‘s move to a new time, the absence of Parks & Recreation (which was moved to the Spring to give Outsourced a try), the replacement of the previously-announced Love Bites (star Becki Newton is pregnant and co-star Jordana Spiro returned to TBS’ My Boys) with an old-school version of The Apprentice, and NBC following the trend of trying to make a go of Friday nights with School Pride (think Extreme Makeover: Home Edition in a school) and Outlaw, starring Jimmy Smits as a former Supreme Court justice. Of course, NBC also has Sunday Night Football during the fall, with its premiere game on Thursday, September 9 featuring a rematch of last year’s NFC Championship game: the Minnesota Vikings versus the Super Bowl Champion New Orleans Saints. The first regular Sunday night game will pit NFC East rivals the Dallas Cowboys versus the Washington Redskins.
