NBC Inks Deal For New Show By Tina Fey

NBC has brilliantly already snatched up the rights to the new show being helmed by 30 Rock creators Tina Fey and Robert Carlock. Has anyone mentioned yet that Carlock is an awesome last name? I am sure someone has, somewhere, so I will just keep going. Though little is known about the show so far, we have some basic details we can give you to whet your collective appetites. Either way, new Tina Fey material is reason for us all to celebrate.

The show is set to center around a professional woman who is trying to reconnect with her family, and “finds a new home and family one Fire Island”. The show is said to derive some ideas from the 80’s Ted Danson classic, Cheers, but how that plays or what that means we have no idea. Read the full story here at Hollywood Deadline.

Honestly, props to NBC for this one. Tina Fey is very America’s adult sweetheart, and her quick wit and self deprecating style has truly won the hearts of many, as in all of us here at TV Overmind and most of the world. Funny, pretty, witty, and brilliant, she is a hard woman not to admire, and just the fact that she will be penning a new show gives me faith that not all comedies coming to network TV are going to be dull and tiresome.

It should also be noted that this is Fey’s first show with her new production company, Little Stranger, so expect this to be the first of many shows Tina Fey may very well have her hands in. Truth be told, we want 30 Rock to go on forever, and any way we can get more Tina Fey time, we will take it.

Keep your eyes peeled for this yet unnamed project as early as next year, and we will keep you posted as more details emerge.
