Casting a Live-Action “One Punch Man” Movie

What would happen if a one punch man movie actually existed? Sometimes it’s fun to think about subjects like this, especially when the slate is completely blank. To date, no such movie is even in the works, making it even more fun to start a discussion concerning who would be involved in such a project. After all, it’s not enough to just think about who the main star would be, you have to think about supporting actors and the director. Who would write the script? The great thing about being able to think about things like this is that there is no right or wrong answer, as everybody has their own idea about who they would like to see in all of these different types of projects.

For a moment, imagine that the script for this movie is written by none other than Stephen King. Wouldn’t it be great if the movie had that twisted sense of existence that so many of his novels have? You’ve undoubtedly seen more than a few of his movies so it’s easy to imagine what type of turn this kind of story can take if it had a writer like that. It certainly wouldn’t be boring, to say the least. It might be slightly terrifying, but that’s okay. The thing about a writer like Stephen King is that he can make something almost comical one minute and absolutely horrifying the next. It takes someone that has a tremendous amount of skill and talent to pull that off, and he has both in ample supply.

Next, it’s important to think about who would direct this film. It would be nice to see someone direct it that is extremely talented, yet doesn’t seem to get enough credit for their work. By the same token, it might be fun to go a completely different direction and get a true legend to direct thin one. What about Steven Spielberg? After all, there doesn’t seem to be a story in the world that he can’t turn into a remarkable success. He has that ability to take virtually any amount of material and make it something more than what it was before. Again, you’re talking about someone with a unique level of talent.

By now it’s pretty clear that it’s all about selecting people that are at the very top of their game. Who’s going to act in this film? Imagine having a film starring Hugh Jackman in the lead role, supported by an actor like Robert Patrick. Two actors really don’t seem like enough so add another supporting role played by a talented actor like Viggo Mortensen. Now this is a movie that anyone would want to see. You’ve got the highly publicized, attractive lead actor supported by two ruggedly handsome and extremely talented actors in key supportive roles. You have a director and writer that are capable of doing tremendous things with any type of idea. What more could you possibly want?

If a movie like this were to become a reality, who wouldn’t want to pay for a movie ticket? Chances are, the seats would be filled to the point that movie theaters would have to be running it in two or three different areas at the same time in order to keep up with demand. It sure would be fun to go see a movie with all of these different aspects in the same film.
