TVLine is reporting that Lee Majors (The Six Million Dollar Man) and Shirley Jones (The Partridge Family) have signed on to play the parents of Raising Hope patriarch Burt Chance (Garret Dillahunt) this season on the FOX comedy. There’s been no details released about the extent of their stay or what brings them around the family, but this is another classic TV get for the Chance family. Recently, Richard Dean Anderson (Macgyver) was announced as another guest star for the upcoming season, which is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, September 20th at 9:30.
This will be another interesting look at the extended family of Virginia, Burt, Jimmy, and Maw Maw, as last season we got to meet Cousin Mike and Virginia’s cousin Delilah (Amy Sedaris). One can only assume that the presence of Burt’s parents will lead to some pretty fantastic flashbacks to young Burt and Virginia, an element of the show that’s always well done.
Both Jones and Majors have worked rather steadily since their TV heydays, with Jones earning an Emmy nomination last year for her work on A&E’s The Cleaner and Majors having guested on the likes of Community, Robot Chicken, and Weeds in recent years.
How do you think Jones and Majors will do on Raising Hope? What other members of the Chance family do you hope (har har) we get to meet in season 2?
