Bravo has been hella busy with their Real Housewives franchise as of late…
Fresh off from letting go of four Housewives from the Real Housewives of New York City, Bravo seems to have set their sights on the Atlanta cast for the next shake-up. Huffington Post’s Rob Shuter reports that Bravo is going to go ahead with the long-rumored Real Housewives of Atlanta spin-off featuring Kim Zolciak and her new ‘baby daddy’ Kroy Biermann. Talk about the show began late last year once news broke of Kim’s pregnancy. Originally billed as a just a wishful dream on Kim’s part, the spin-off is now a reality, which means that NeNe Leakes might be in an Atlanta suburb screaming in pure disbelief over the news. Wonder will she make any guests appearances? Doubt it.
Kim will be the third Real Housewife who has gotten her own spin-off show from the franchise that made her a household name. The first Housewife to hold the title was Jo de la Rosa from The Real Housewives of Orange County, who starred in the short-lived reality competition show Date My Ex: Jo and Slade, which featured Jo trying to find love using The Bachelorette format with her ex, Slade Smiley, serving as a judge of sorts. The show wasn’t all that popular, but Jo and Slade have made numerous appearances on RHOOC‘s later seasons.
While Jo’s show didn’t make a splash, ex-Real Housewives of New York City star Bethenney Frankel’s did. After enduring a turbulent fight with former best buddy Jill Zarin in the third season of The Real Housewives of New York City, Bethenny embarked on her own journey after Bravo rewarded the Skinny Girl Margarita CEO her own show Bethenny Getting Married? (now called Bethenny Ever After) to chronicle not only the birth of her first daughter, but her wedding as well. The show has been a hit with viewers and has already been picked up for a third season.
I’m sure Bravo is hoping for Kim Zolciak’s show to have the same success as Bethenny’s, but we will have to wait and see if people are game to hear Kim scream “SWEETIE!!!” on a weekly basis. However, this news only makes me wonder what exactly went down during the upcoming fourth season of the Real Housewives of Atlanta to make Kim want to jump ship. Reports have been surfacing that she didn’t film much with the ladies this year, and while that could be attributed to anything, it still makes you ponder if this spin-off plan was set in stone all along.
Whatever the case may be, this season of the Real Housewives of Atlanta will be must-see TV. Like always.
What do you guys think about Kim and her spin-off?
