Fresh off his blockbuster success with Oz The Great and Powerful, Sam Raimi has been contracted by FOX to direct the Greg Kinnear starring Rake. The series begins production in just a few days, but negotiations with Raimi have been going on for months according to Deadline.
This marks Raimi’s first pilot directing gig, a major addition to a career portfolio that would have to be called eclectic. Raimi got his start with the independent horror feature The Evil Dead, which went on to become one of the most well known horror films of all time—a remake will hit cinemas April 4th. Few other directors have risen from such gory beginnings to go on to a career that would include blockbusters like Spiderman and Oz.
Raimi will also receive Executive Producer credit on the pilot. Rake “Follows the chaotic and Comedic life of criminal defense lawyer Keegan Joyre (Kinnear), brillian, frustratingly charming, and with zero filler.”
