The Secret Circle recently cast another of its main characters. Britt Robertson has already secured the lead role of Cassie, while Thomas Dekker was cast to play the mysterious male character of Adam.
Now Deadline reports that Australian actress Phoebe Tonkin has been selected to play the role of Faye in the one hour pilot, which was written by The Vampire Diaries showrunner Kevin Williamson and Andrew Miller.
In the books, also written by the author of The Vampire Diaries book series, Faye Chamberlain is a 17 year old classmate of Cassie, who recently moved to New Salem. Faye dislikes Cassie and is determined to make her life difficult. She also happens to be part of The Circle, a group of highschool girls who are also witches. Faye is determined to take over the leadership of The Circle from another classmate, Diana.
Essentially, Faye is one of the lead antagonists of the series and it’s likely that she’ll play the same kind of role in the television show.
Tonkin has previously had recurring roles on Australian television shows such as Home & Away and H20: Just Add Water.
The Secret Circle pilot will be shooting in Vancouver and, assuming everything goes well, will probably secure a spot on The CW’s fall schedule.
