Although we’ll be saying a brief goodbye to them after the midseason finale air this Saturday, we finally know when our favorite Outlander characters will be returning to Starz for the remainder of season one.
Starz has just announced that Outlander will return for its midseason premiere on April 4, 2015. That’s right–there won’t be a new episode of Outlander for over five months after this weekend.
The time-traveling, historical romance series has been a major success for Starz, becoming one the network’s most popular dramas of all-time over the course of just seven episodes. Last week’s highly anticipated and widely praised episode, “The Wedding,” was watched by 3.8 million viewers and broke ratings records for Starz. According to the premium cable network, Outlander is averaging 5 million viewers per episode across viewing platforms.
Outlander stars Caitriona Balfe as Claire Randal (or should we now call her Claire Fraser?), Sam Heughan as Jamie Fraser, Graham McTavish as Dougal MacKenzie, and Tobias Menzies as both Frank Randall and the loathsome Redcoat Black Jack. The series will air its eighth episode, which will also be its midseason finale, this Saturday at 9 p.m. on Starz. When Outlander returns next year in April, it will finish out the remainder of its freshman run, airing the final eight episodes of season one, which will consist of a total of 16 episodes.
Earlier today, we here at TVOvermind posted a sneak peak clip at Outlander‘s midseason finale. In the scene, both Claire and Jamie make a promise to each other in what appears to be a very tense and serious situation. Check it out the scene for yourself right here.
