Battlestar Galactica fans are ready for a serious spin-off. Let’s face it, Caprica was mostly made of high-concept fail. Battlestar proved there is still a market for a high drama space opera. Frankly I think Stargate: Universe made a decent replacement for BG, but we all know what went down there.
When that unauthorized/authorized (so confusing!) trailer from Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome emerged Galactica fans everywhere exploded with enthusiasm. At the time, there were rumors that the web series was being prepped for full series treatment, then nearly seconds after the trailer hit with all of its promise of returning to the Galactica formula that actually worked, the rumors were killed. Since then, Blood and Chrome‘s status has been somewhat of a mystery. Well, until now.
After months and months of wondering when we would finally get a look at Blood and Chrome in all of its glory, SYFY announced today that the web series will finally be released as a web series, as it was originally intended, at Machinma.com, YouTube.com/MachinimaPrime, to be exact, THIS Friday. That’s right, Syfy released word today that Blood and Chrome will premiere this Friday. It’s like an ambush premiere!
It’s still somewhat of a mystery as to why Syfy is not front and center on this launch. Is it possible that despite the awesomeness that radiates from the trailers that Blood and Chrome secretly sucks? It doesn’t seem likely.  As for when and if we will ever get the Battlestar Galactica spinoff we deserve, we’re still waiting …
