If there is one thing that we wonder every week when we binge watch 25 episodes of watch Flip or Flop on HGTV, it’s what the El Moussa family is like at home. We see a lot of Tarek and Christina at work flipping houses, but what are they doing when they are not at work? Some might assume that they hang out around their house, or they go on lavish vacations or that they have other people do all that for them so that they can just lie by the pool and sip champagne all throughout the day. The truth is Tarek and Christina El Moussa, despite being exceptionally famous reality television stars and world-class house flippers, are just like you and me; at least, they’re a lot like my family so I assume they must be a lot like other families.
They watch themselves on television
With the exception of this one, of course. Most of us do not watch ourselves on television. But let’s be honest; we would, right? Christina posted to her Instagram account that she adores shopping with her little girl and that she should do it more often when daddy is not around. As the mother of three girls and a boy, I can tell you shopping with just the girls is a fun treat.
They love their animals
Before they had kids, the El Moussa’s had a dog. So did my husband and I; and that dog was our first baby. I imagine that many parents are like that, too. They start with animals and work their way up to real kids at some point and occasionally wonder why.
They make their kids help out
Isn’t the reason you had kids in the first place to 1). Embarrass them and take immense pleasure in that and 2). Have tiny little housekeepers? I know when we decided that we’d have two kids and then a third that ended up being twins that we knew they’d be great little helpers around the house. They help give us something to clean up every day so that we are never without something to do. They are quite helpful.
They take selfies
This photo, according to Christina’s Instagram page, is one she took of herself and her daughter during an impromptu trip to Lego Land recently. We take our kids on impromptu Disney trips all the time, and we always have a good selfie or two to share of us with the littles (it’s the only time they actually smile and look at the camera at the same time).
They shop with their kids
Look at that happy shopping family. We all do it; and then five seconds later one of the kids loses his or her mind, someone takes too long and a stranger inevitably asks some sort of highly inappropriate question about your breast-feeding (because let’s talk to strangers about their girly bits) or how many stiches one needs following labor and all you want is to get out and go home and never shop with the kids ever again — until next time.
