The Amazing Race 19 Cast Revealed…And It Has Some Familiar Faces

Last season on The Amazing Race, we watched 11 teams that had previously competed on the show come back for another chance to see the world and win a million dollars in the process. This upcoming season, on the other hand? We won’t know every team going in, but it looks like we’ll be familiar with more people than one might think, especially following an all-star season.

Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Survivor winners Ethan Zohn (Survivor: Africa) and Jenna Morasca (Survivor: The Amazon) will be one of the 11 teams competing on the 19th season of the Emmy winning reality series. The two, who are currently dating, wouldn’t be the first CBS Reality Royal Couple to make the trek around the world, as Boston Rob and Amber competed on seasons 7 and 11 and Big Brother‘s Jeff and Jordan appeared on season 16.

They’re not the only “names” on this season of The Amazing Race, as we’ll be getting to know former NFL player Marcus Pollard (and his wife Amani), two Olympic snowboarders, and a young man that set the world record for being the youngest person to sail around the world alone. Not to mention the fact that there will be gay flight attendants, former Vegas showgirls, pretty blonde twins, and a sweet older married couple, just to name a few.

But that’s not all. Oh, no, we didn’t just get the cast list this morning; there’ll be some changes going down in Phil Keoghan Country and I’m not quite sure what to think. There’ll be a double elimination this season, which seems to make logical sense considering that we already have non-elimination legs and things like the U-Turn that make their presence known every season. My fear is that this means more non-elimination legs, which can be effective but generally fizzle out, but I’m interested to see how the double elimination will work itself into the game. The powers that be will be introducing another new element to the game in the Hazard, which is described as “a penalty that a team will incur right at the starting line”. The show has done something similar before, i.e. the license plate elimination in season 15 and the airplane challenge last season, so as long as the challenges are actually, well, challenging, I think it could be an asset to the show.

For all the travel porn lovers out there, the show will be heading to Belgium, Denmark, Malawi (hey Madonna!), and Indonesia for the first time, which will bring the total number of countries visited in the show’s 19 seasons to 80.

Here’s the list of all 11 teams (with photos here) that will be vying for the million dollars come September 25th at 8:00. Does anyone stand out?

  • Ethan, 37 & Jenna, 30 (Dating)
  • Laurence, 48 & Zac, 19 (Father/Son Adventurers)
