The Carrie Diaries Preview: See Carrie Bradshaw’s Introduction to the City

It’s 1984 and Carrie Bradshaw is 16 years old.  In the new CW series, The Carrie Diaries, Sex and the City fans and a younger generation of girls will be able to see Carrie’s love affair with New York City begin.

Carrie lives with her father and younger sister, Dorritt, in Connecticut.  The girls return to school after the recent loss of her mother, but Carrie feels out of sorts.  Trying to learn how to grow into a young woman without her mother is difficult, as is Dorritt’s rebelliousness.  Even the arrival of the cute Sebastian can’t bring Carrie out of her grief.

Seeing that his daughter is floundering, Carrie’s father, Tom, suggests an internship in Manhattan.  Carrie jumps at the chance and gets her first taste of big city life.  While on a lunch break from her internship, Carrie stumbles across Larissa, an editor for Interview Magazine.  Despite the age gap between the women, Larissa introduces Carrie to her cool city friends and hangouts.

The Carrie Diaries is a sweet and earnest show about a young girl learning to grow up.  Watch a preview for the series below and watch for an official premiere date in January 2013.
