The Originals: Trailer and Clip for The CW’s New Vampire Drama

The OriginalsWe were introduced to The Originals in a Vampire Diaries episode that served as a backdoor pilot for the series.

Klaus has decided to settle in New Orleans after visiting the city he helped to build. After seeing the life of his former protégé, Marcel, Klaus has decided to remain in the city in order to claim what he thinks he is due: power, family, prestige.

But Marcel isn’t going to give up his own position that easily and while Klaus has his brother Elijah at his side, their sister Rebekah is less than eager to help Klaus. Meanwhile, Klaus has some drama on the side with one-night stand (and fellow werewolf) Hayley, who is now pregnant with their child. Klaus and Elijah will “form an uneasy alliance with the witches to ensure that New Orleans will be ruled by” their family.

The series stars Joseph Morgan (“The Vampire Diaries,” “Immortals”) as Klaus, Daniel Gillies (“The Vampire Diaries,” “Saving Hope”) as Elijah, Claire Holt (“The Vampire Diaries,” “Pretty Little Liars”) as Rebekah, Phoebe Tonkin (“The Vampire Diaries,” “The Secret Circle”) as Hayley, Charles Michael Davis (“Grey’s Anatomy,” “Switched at Birth”) as Marcel, Daniella Pineda (“The Fitzgerald Family Christmas,” “Homeland”) as Sophie, Leah Pipes (“The Deep End,” “Sorority Row”) as Cami and Danielle Campbell (“Starstruck,” “Tyler Perry’s Madea’s Witness Protection”) as Davina.

There’s only a bit of new footage in the trailer if you already watched the backdoor pilot, but new viewers might be interested in what this show is all about. The Originals will air on Tuesday nights at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT. For The CW’s full 2013-2014 schedule, click here.
