In this continuing series, let’s look at the standouts so far this season on America’s Got Talent (in no particular order), starting with Barbara Padilla.
A few years ago, Barbara Padilla was an acclaimed student at the University of Guadalajara in Mexico with a promising career as a music teacher and singer.
Then she was struck with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, underwent a regimen of chemotherapy and treatment, and nearly died on several occasions.
At one time, she was told after radiation treatment she might very well never sing again due to the damage chemotherapy could sustain on the vocal chords.
But she didn’t give up. Her faith, family, and friends gave Barbara the strength to survive.
While in Houston for medical consultation following treatment, she auditioned at Moore’s School of Music at the University of Houston. She was awarded a full scholarship where she completed the Master’s Degree program.
Today, Barbara is a cancer survivor and normal stay-at-home mom, providing for a young daughter and a loving husband. And an inspiration to everyone.
Embarking on the latest phase of her life, she’s returning to her roots with the wish to us bring joy and inspiration with her far-from-normal music.
In case you haven’t heard of Barbara’s name before, you’ll be hearing it a lot more. Auditioning for America’s Got Talent, she wowed the audience and judges in her first appearance with an operatic soprano worthy of worldwide acclaim. As the program moves on to Las Vegas, be sure to watch and support your favorite act!
