The Vampire Diaries at Comic-Con: Paul Wesley and Candice King Talk Steroline, First Scenes, and Final Season Predictions

The Vampire Diaries

The CW announced this past Saturday that the upcoming eighth season of The Vampire Diaries will be its final one; after seven seasons of vampires, witches, and a whole host of other supernatural entities, the CW drama will conclude its run after only 16 more episodes. When we interviewed members of the Vampire Diaries cast at San Diego Comic-Con this past weekend, many of them took time to reflect on their characters’ journeys throughout the series, including stars Paul Wesley and Candice King, who even discussed their first scene together back in the pilot. In addition to that little bit of reflection, the two of them also teased what might be ahead for Caroline and Stefan, as both individuals and as a couple, in Season 8 and what else fans can expect to see from The Vampire Diaries as it heads into its final season.

In the video below, watch Wesley and King talk about that “June wedding” line from the pilot (and if it will come to fruition in these final 16 episodes) and what they hope to see from their characters in Season 8. Plus, they discuss what it’s like for the Vampire Diaries cast when Wesley directs an episode (spoiler alert: he’ll be directing another installment during this final season).

The Vampire Diaries Season 8 premieres on Friday, Oct. 21, at 8 p.m. Check out our Comic-Con interview with Paul Wesley and Candice King below, and be sure to come back to TVOvermind for more SDCC interviews from the rest of the TVD cast and series creator Julie Plec as well.

The Vampire Diaries fans, what do you hope to see from Stefan and Caroline (as both individuals and as a couple) in the show’s eighth and final season? What would be a satisfying ending to their stories for you? Comment below and let us know your final season wishes and predictions.
